Are you a tech professional looking for new IT career placement? If you've struggled with advancing your career or finding a new company to lend your skill set to, then the latest round of employment figures should come as heartening news. According to a new poll gauging IT job levels, the number of open employment opportunities in the industry grew by a modest but healthy 0.3 percent last month over March. Even more impressive and encouraging is that this growth marks an overall 5 percent increase over IT job figures seen a year ago, in April 2014.

"[The] rate of IT employment grew modestly in April […] [and] IT employment continues to outperform the growth rate of the overall workforce," said Mark Roberts, CEO of the IT trade association TechServe Alliance, in an official statement. "If the economy continues to strengthen after a sluggish first quarter, I am optimistic that strength will be reflected in improving IT and engineering employment numbers in the coming months."

In the last 12 months, the IT field added 234,900 new jobs, bringing the nationwide total of industry positions to over 4.9 million. This news comes hot off the heels of the Department of Labor's recent jobs report, which found that April 2015 was the 55th consecutive month of total employment gains in the U.S.
