Information technology plays a key role in the success of the WarFighter "boots on the ground" and within the Intelligence Community in order to share actionable intelligence on both mission-enabled systems and those centered on the day to day business aspects within the agency.

Linux Administrator – Identity Operations team

The client is currently going through a top down modernization effort across their IT infrastructure. This modernization effort extends into the paradigm used in service offerings related to Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), and Platform as a Service (PaaS).

This team is the primary engineering organization charged with designing and deploying IT systems that help the client achieve its mission. The program is responsible for all facets of technology including Microsoft, VMWare, Data Center Architecture, Citrix/Virtual Desktop, Application Provisioning, and Identity and Access Management. This includes all areas of engineering including Desktop, Server, Applications, Virtualization, SharePoint, SQL, Exchange, Active Directory, ADFS, ESX, Storage, LDAP, Linux/Red-Hat, Oracle Identity Suites, Oracle Access Manager, Radiant Logic and most importantly, the adoption of the Cloud - specifically AWS/C2S.

You will be joining a 60+ person team that focuses exclusively on the engineering and maintenance of authentication, authorization, and credentialing solutions for our customer.  The team is split into 4 smaller teams and run as a DevOps shop with strong emphasis on Scrum.  Linux technologies are used ubiquitously in conjunction with bash and python to automate deployments through multiple environments spanning multiple classifications.

Day to day the team provides engineering support working with technologies such as Puppet, LDAP, Oracle DB, SQL DB, JIRA/Confluence, PKI certificates all running on RHEL 6 & 7, hosted on either AWS or Vmware.

As a Linux Engineer you will be responsible for troubleshooting and supporting an operations team.  The operations environment is comprised predominantly of Red hat servers and software packages focused on identity management, automation, monitoring, and baseline maintenance.  The operations team is responsible for the sustainment of this environment, break fix, PKI enablement and ensuring the overall health and security of the environment.
***This position requires off hours/on call support for one week every two to three months.

2-5 years experience with Bachelors or Masters.  Or equivalent technical experience.

Desired Core Skills:

  • Experience using server automation and management tools such as Puppet
  • Experience migrating or deploying OS and applications to cloud based technologies like AWS/C2S, VMware
  • Linux management through the command line and use of command line text editor
  • Linux patching methods and procedures (Especially Red Hat 6 &7)
  • Experience using a ticket management system (Example: JIRA, Remedy, HP Service Manager)
  • General knowledge of networking concepts, topology, and principles
  • Understanding of troubleshooting techniques
  • Strong communication skills

Preferred Secondary Skills:

  • Experience supporting environments (test, regression, production) and software deployments
  • Principals of Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)
  • Principals of the Apache, Tomcat, or Weblogic web server technologies
  • Principals of DevOps
  • Experience bash and/or ruby
  • General understanding of ports and protocols
  • Oracle DSEE administration
  • Oracle OVD administration Principals of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI and Public Key Enabling (PKE)
  • Puppet Enterprise management and/or module development Nagios administration Gitlab administration Principals of Web API's
